Outlook 2007 exchange mailbox, 2gb limit error?

Mailbox reported that its too big and cannot send/receive any emails.

Can't access Outlook Web Access
Can't delete emails & compact database - doesn't make a difference (As mailbox = 1.9GB)

Remove Exchange Storage quotas from the mailbox.

- Checked if mailbox is in unicode or ansi format

Mailbox is in non-unicode (Ansi) format - which means an automatic size limitation of 2gb's will be enforced.

THERE is no way of converting a ansi mailbox to a unicode mailbox.
IF recreating the mailbox doesn't work - then the outlook got its settings from a outlook 2003 upgrade that was setup to have ANSI mailboxes - which means you will have to uninstall & reinstall Outlook 2007.

Steps:

Closed Outlook

Removed everything in:
%documents & settings%username%local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook\

Goto Control Panel - Mail - Show profiles - Delete the profile

Open Outlook - recreate the profile - This will connect to exchange and setup a fresh .ost for you

Corrupt Outlook .ost profile

.ost is the Offline Folder File used by Exchange.

How to determine if a profile is corrupt:

This is the type of error that you might get - if for instance your outlook refuses to open one folder with this error.

To make sure it is a corrupt Profile - Add the mailbox to your mailbox - open the folder - or ask the User to try and open this folder using Outlook Web Access.

If the user can access their folder on OWA - please open Outlook - Tools - Accounts - remove the account & recreate via control panel - mail.

Migrating a Microsoft Entourage Pop Account to an imap account on Exchange Server 2007

The Entourage mailbox that needed to be migrated was 12.5Gb in size. My other problem was that this account was setup as a POP account and the user needed the Mac to continue work.

This is what I did:

The Entourage Mail is Stored in a database located in a database in:
HDD - Users - Documents - MUD (Microsoft User Data) - Office 2004 Identities

Step 1 - Copy the Entourage Database to the new machine/location

Copy Microsoft 2004 Identities from (HDD - Users - Documents - MUD (Microsoft User Data) - Office 2004 Identities) to HDD - Home - Public - Dropbox (on the new machine/location)

Copy the database file into HDD - Users - Documents - MUD (Microsoft User Data)

Step 2 - Rebuilding/Repairing the permissions on the database file
Open Disk Utility
Run Repair Permissions

You will have Click on the main identities folder (that you've just copied over from the user Mac) and "Get Info" and change the folder security - to allow you to be able to open the file.

Goto: Application - Microsoft 2004 - Database Utility

Step 3 - Verify database integrity
Goto Application - Microsoft Office 2004 - Office - Database Utility

Step 4 - Compacing your Database
Compacting the database is a very good way of ensuring that you are not holding onto diskspace that isn't in use - deleting items won't compact your database or free up disk space.

Setting up the new mailbox on Exchange

Setup the new mailbox on Entourage

Push the old mail into the new Exchange Mailbox.

One very important issue will be - all the mail pushed up to the Exchange Server WILL be dated todays date (the date you copied it to the server) - this is something you cannot get by unless you buy specific import/export software for Entourage.
